Safety & Environmental Management

ITS has extensive experience in the development of safety and environmental management systems, resulting in robust safety and environmental case reports. These include risk and hazard identification, analysis, assurance, identification of applicable legislation, and the development of safety arguments to ensure systems are safe by design and safe to use.

Support Engineering: Safeguarding Lives, Not Just Budgets

Support Engineering is far more than a cost-saving measure, it is a life-saving imperative.

Across high-stakes industries such as defence, aerospace, marine, rail, and medical, the consequences of unexpected asset failure or downtime can be catastrophic. Whether it is a frontline communication system, a surgical device, or a high-speed rail component, safety-critical assets demand rigorous, proactive support.

At ITS, our experts collaborate closely with client teams to deliver comprehensive system asset management solutions. We go beyond compliance, designing support strategies that not only meet but exceed Health and Safety obligations. Our approach ensures:

Because in these industries, support engineering is not just about keeping systems running, it is about keeping people safe.

ITS applies and delivers safety and environmental doctrine as defined by the UK MOD and industry, specifically in line with Project Oriented Safety Management System (POSMS), Project-Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS), and the Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS), which underpin the required fundamentals.

  • POSMS provides a set of 13 Safety Management Procedures (SMPs) designed to:
    • Identify and assess safety hazards,
    • Apply mitigation strategies to reduce risks to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable),
    • Manage residual safety risks throughout the CADMID lifecycle.
  • POEMS is a structured framework developed by the MOD to ensure environmental risks are identified, assessed, and managed throughout the lifecycle of defence acquisition projects.
