Supportability Engineering
Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Integrated Product Support (IPS), and the wider aspects of Support Engineering are foundational to modern defence and aerospace systems, ensuring that complex capabilities are not only delivered but sustained effectively throughout their lifecycle.
ILS/IPS is a disciplined, systematic approach to planning and managing supportability throughout a system’s life. It aims to minimise life cycle costs, maximise system availability, and ensure maintainability and sustainability. Embedded within systems engineering, it is essential for delivering operational readiness and long-term value.
At ITS we work alongside companies to develop and capture all ILS elements, including Maintenance Planning, Supply and Support, Availability, Reliability and Maintainability, Codification, Configuration Management, Obsolescence Management, and Disposal. These are tightly aligned with the UK Ministry of Defence’s CADMID cycle (Concept, Assessment, Demonstration, Manufacture, In-Service, Disposal/Termination), which defines the stages of capability development.
Since 2004, we have developed a portfolio of solutions to help clients build products from initial concept to end of life, reliable, supportable, and cost-effective. We provide support with configuration, obsolescence, documentation, ILS/IPS, NATO codification and more, delivering the comprehensive solutions that equipment and systems require.
Understanding ILS requirements enables us to deliver tailored, project-specific solutions to meet client needs, ensuring systems achieve maximum operational availability at the lowest whole-life cost.
Through early analysis of product design and support planning, ITS provides assistance to influence design decisions, identify and develop the required support resources, and design effective in-service support solutions.
The ILS/IPS function is sometimes overlooked, yet it is fundamental to the life of a system. ITS has extensive knowledge and understanding of ILS methodology and is a qualified provider of supportability engineering.
We operate across a wide variety of capability areas both within the UK and overseas, where quality and reliability are critical. These include the Defence, Aerospace, and Maritime sectors.
